So...it's August! Having lived through 8 years of summer camp by this point, I can assure you it's never a good time for remembering computer stuff. I only have one more week of adventures left, and then I will be able to turn my attention on more comic-y things, rather than oh-gosh-grab-the-camper-from-the-cliff sorts of things. In the meantime...um...here's a cautious-looking mermaid!
We're finally beginning, now! I know that July is going to be a bit slower, but I will slowly and surely keep the story going until things change (??) in August.
Thanks for sticking around!
I lost a friend yesterday.
He was one of the people who spurred me on to actually do this project idea thing, and I think he will forever be linked to it, in my mind and heart. I can't help but write something. Because as I start to watch the fallout, all of us flailing about, trying to think of the right thing to say, wishing we could do something, I realize what it means for someone to live their life, and to live it well.
Ross loved God. I know that is true. And because of that, he lived and loved others more fully in his 28 years than probably most other people will in their entire lives. Whenever you spoke to him or shared time with him, you felt like you were sitting next to a window to the Kingdom, a little outside of time, a little closer to Home, a little more peaceful.
I look back at old e-mail's and messages, and I feel like I was greatly blessed to have been able to bandy thoughts and nerdy comic ideas with him. I rejoice that God has finally freed from that tortured body. Even though it is so hard to see him go.
HEY. As you can see, the newest page is late again. It will show up, promise.
However, I am going to ask for grace during these summer months (by the way...HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER TOMORROW). This is the busiest time of year for me at my job, and I am working many more hours. That means that new pages will come as I am best able to make them come...and I will try! But they won't always be on time. I can't stay up super-late to make it work (I drive children in large vans, and I won't risk their safety by being a sleepy driver. It's just not worth it.)
But, this is not a hiatus, by any means. Just a humble request for grace.
In other news...Fireflies! It's firefly season! It's one of the best times of year! Go outside!
Yay! We have finally made it to the end of the prologue. Now the story can finally begin in earnest! Thank you so much to those of you who have come along for the beginning of this adventure.
OHkay. This page is for all you who get to wake up with a cat on your face.
The next page is going to be a little late in coming, and for that I apologize. You will have it by Friday. This week went faster than I thought! WOOOO!
Page 6! Light-hearted sunshine and daisies.
When I drew this page, I thought I would shift from watercolors to markers for the comic. The rest of the prologue was done with markers, and chapter one is currently being done in pencils. I WILL figure this out eventually!
This is, in part, to the fact that pencils don't make your work space smell like a chemical factory. Or make you ssuupper loopy heyyy mann what is that maybe weeeee should ask the circle birds.
Well, I guess its safe to say no one will want seconds on their tea.
ALSO! Welcome to the newly refurbished site! I tried to make it a little less clunky/more pretty, and hopefully it makes the comic simpler to enjoy. If you find anything awry, please don't hesitate to let me know.
I plan to have unique headers for each page soon. For now, please enjoy the construction dust!
